Journaler, Risk-Taker & Optimist
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had an affinity for blank books and empty boxes. At an early age, the blank pages became a canvas for words and reflections, evolving into a passion for journaling, while the boxes continue to fill with treasures from a collection of life experiences.
Over the past 20 years, I feel like I’ve lived a dozen lives. I’ve traveled to more than 25 countries and have lived in three: Canada, South Korea and the U.S. My career has taken me on a winding path from teaching adults, to planning events for international students, teaching elementary school, managing an educational nonprofit, and most recently working with my husband on crowdfunding and launching a startup.
Now I’m doing the most challenging and rewarding job of my life: being a mom. My husband and I have two young children (a five-year-old son and baby daughter) and a small business. We’ve lived in three different states in our six years of marriage. Enough commitment to feel stable — enough change to feel sane.
My best days are when we take the kids exploring. I love attempting to capture who they are at that moment in time (because they’ll be someone else next week!) and chronicling the day’s adventure. I appreciate simple pleasures like the beautiful light that streams through our windows as the sun is setting, wine at 4pm and a good hair day.
I’m a Canadian living my best life in The South.
This blog is my attempt to transfer my personal journaling skills and life experiences into writing that inspires introspection and helps us to feel more connected to ourselves, one another and the world around us. In the big picture, it’s my hope that through this introspection and connection, we can cultivate more risk-taking, resilience and optimism in the world.
In word and upward!
I hope you’ll join me in this conversation.
